Short 2 Days Trip to Berlin| Berlin, Germany {Children Photographer}

When taking children to different city, different country by my own, I always struggle setting my priorities and maintaining the balance. As a mother, I want to enjoy time with my girls but as a photographer, I want to capture every moment that I we share together. Occasionally, my older girl will pose for me and give me her typical smile. But my youngest one… she just likes to run.  I missed the shot often, because I just had to put down the camera and run after my girls, when they get too excited. Perhaps, over-excited.  After all, we all had jet lag. So for a short 2 days, we spend good time resting in a hotel by the shopping district of Kurfürstendamm. Then of course, we couldn’t miss Berlin Zoo & Berlin Wall. We saw Brandenburg Gate and Berlin Victory Column from the bus. I really wanted to take the girls to Pergamon Museum, but waiting was way too long. So we took alternative choice and visited the Berlin Cathedral. So here are glimpses of Berlin…

Trip to Renwick Gallery | Washington D.C {Children Photographer}

There are many fun things to do in Washington D.C, and Renwick Gallery is one of the best. We had to line two blocks away from the gallery just to enter. Then again, long waiting line for the ‘Wonder Exhibit’, which my little girls didn’t mind waiting in the line at all. If National Gallery is where we look into a paining/art work and read the story inside the painting, feel the emotion that painting is giving it to us, here, it was 3D art work reading our experience and bring out our emotions.  Each of us has general but so uniquely different life experience, so after ‘wow’ it is so pretty, our individual emotion and thoughts get filtered by these artwork. So my little girls wondered if she was in the bird nest when she was in Patrick Dougherty’s Shindig and explored here and there. Huge index files made them wonder what is an index card and why is this an art? Echelman’s woven sculpture made waiting less boring and more exciting. And in the Midnight Garden by Jennifer Angus, we stayed in almost an hour enjoying the decorative wall design as well as the fine details of each bugs. And we went through each of the open drawer of the chest. After a fun day in the gallery, my girls told their favorite is the rainbow art work which is the Plexus A1. I find this interesting, because we passed this room really fast, as there were too many people. So… I guess feeling the beauty is universal and may be 3 seconds is also enough to distinguish the feeling of likeness.

Sister Time with Emotion | Broadland South, VA {Children Photography}

Here is my dilemma when I’m taking a picture of my little girl. I wish to step back more and get a better frame, but that space allows my two years old to get wild. So here, I click and check! This time, I felt terrible clicking when she was crying. My little girl was telling me that she is not happy with her sister, but I clicked first, as it is not an emergency, and gave her a hug, and eventually her big sister gave her a hug too. So here is our little documentation of emotion!

Sweat Little Girl | Chantilly, VA {Life-Style Photographer}

I was very happy when my friend allow me to take and to post her cute little girl’s picture. It was a very gloomy grey day, not much light… but my friend could deliver her baby anytime soon, so I went ahead and took picture of this lovely little girl with mommy’s baby bump. Playground was wet and muddy, and this little girl had missed her nap time, but still she was a happy cheerful young girl (just like her mother) to take a picture and we had lots of fun together!

Pink, Pink, Spring and Pink {Children Photography}

A pale red, the color intermediate between red and white could means much more than just PINK. It is the lovely feeling of spring, sisterhood and a blossom of passion and this time(for me), it was a dilution of antipathy of bug/insects. For the first time, I took closer observation and thought that they could be pretty in their own ways too. Well, my girls love it! Can’t go wrong with pink, right?

Luray Caverns in Shenandoah Valley| Luray, VA {Children Photographer}

I am not a big fan of underground cavern, but my little kids and I really enjoyed this long interesting 2.4 km walk in Luray Caverns. We loved the ‘Dream Lake’ where stalagmites are reflected in the water making a beautiful illusion of stalagmites. And for the first time, I tried taking picture with ISO 12800. Unlike the old time, where I had to roll back film to exchange to higher ISO film, I just had to push a button, turn and voilà, I got my pictures of  kiddies, that tells WE HAVE BEEN THERE, and had FUN!

Kindergarten Musical Jungle Rock|Ashburn, VA {Children Photographer}

It has been over a month that my girl has been practicing her lines and songs that every family member got to learn them by heart. Finally, the day has come and I could see the excitement and nervousness in the air. Hoping 30 minutes early arrival would give me a fair chance of good view seat, but there were other parents who came much earlier than me. I brought video camera to record singing and dancing of my little monkey on the stage, but honestly I was wondering if this was a good occasion to get me a telephoto zoom lens. Well, I might keep wondering for a while…  But for now, I am so happy to see my girl in stage! And here is after stage photo, say banana!

Playmobile Fun Park| Zirndorf {Children Photographer}

Travelling with kids could be challenging most of the time, specially when they are bored, tired, hungry with terrible jet lag. But this place, Playmobile Fun Park, near Nürnberg was so much fun for kids of all ages. With so much interesting theme to choose and to play, I even forget to take pictures. I mean, not as much as I thought. And there was a lady who kept sanitizing all the toys that has been played by children. It was an excellent choice to make a visit and let the kids imaginaiton blossom, and let the parents enjoy a warm coffee from coffee mashine in the playing area.

National Gallery of Art| Washinton D.C {Children Photography}

I often asked by my friends, why did I take young kids to art gallery. How much do they really enjoy? Well, honestly, I would answer that my little one, two years, would probably enjoy about 15 minutes and my bigger one, five, did good 45 minutes of art viewing. We started with post-impressionism  in second floor and by the time we reached Rembrandt, my kiddies were not interested anymore. So I rushed them down to show Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, the little one has fallen into sleep and bigger one wanted to read the book that we just bought from the museum shop. So, why do I do this, when these days, they could see everything in internet. It is easy, fast and superb color and quality, and may be that what all little girls would need. And it might sound funny, but this is why I took my little girls to the art gallery, hoping that this slow viewing, and space between these great art works will allow my girls to have a thinking aftereffect. May be, may be not, but why not, when there is a free art gallery with full of original masterpiece that my little girls were allowed to observe so close by, I personally think this trip was worth every 45 minutes.

Adorable little girl first birthday|Brambleton, VA {Event Photographer}

Every first year birthday party that I have been invited by Indian family, there are three things in common. Beautiful mother with stunning dress/saree, mouth melting yummy Indian cuisine and lots of fun entertainments. But this birthday party was very special to me, because I personally know this beautiful family. I am so happy to document this special day of the pretty princess. Of course, I also enjoyed taking pictures of lovely ladies and cute children, and tasting excellent Indian food.
